AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Fireworks sparked a large trash fire in North Amarillo on the Fourth of July that threatened nearby homes before firefighters stopped it from spreading, according to the Amarillo Fire Department.
Crews responded at about 9:58 p.m. July 4 to the 1700 block of North Washington Street after receiving a report of a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they found a large outdoor fire involving trash, debris and discarded household items in the backyard of a vacant home. The fire was determined to be associated with fireworks activity and was threatening structures on the property as well as neighboring homes.
