CORRALES — There were no fires in Corrales on July 4. It may have been the local kids that made sure that wouldn’t happen, because they were armed with water guns at the Corrales Fourth of July Parade.
More than a quarter of the parade was a battle between adults, teens and kids squirting each other to their hearts’ content. The rest of it was what one might expect from Corrales.
Corrales, which banned fireworks for the 250th anniversary of the United States, made sure the parade was stocked full with local farm animals, classic cars, local organizations and, of course, water. There were some political floats, and Corrales Mayor Fred Hashimoto made an early appearance in the line along with a few village council members.
