Charlotte bakery closes amid heat wave, cites unsafe working conditions

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Charlotte bakery closed Tuesday as a major heat wave baked the Carolinas.

Villani’s Bakery, along Pecan Avenue near East Independence Boulevard, shut its doors Tuesday, July 7.

In a social media post, the bakery said its air conditioning system “just cannot keep up with the heat from the kitchen,” creating unsafe and uncomfortable working conditions for staff.
