Thieves used possibly stolen truck to rip ATM from Baton Rouge bank, police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Baton Rouge police responded to a reported ATM theft at the Red River Bank located at 9400 Old Hammond Hwy early Tuesday morning.

Officers arrived at approximately 4:40 a.m. on July 7, 2026, and found a 2019 Ford F-250 in the middle of the roadway. Investigators said the truck was used by the suspect or suspects to dislodge the ATM from the ground.

Vehicle may be stolen

The vehicle used in the incident is possibly stolen, according to investigators.

The suspect or suspects were able to gain entry into the ATM and steal the money inside.

Bank responds

In a statement, Red River Bank said the ATM at its Old Hammond Highway banking center was burglarized around 5 a.m.

“We are cooperating fully with the Baton Rouge City Police Department as they investigate this incident,” the bank said. “At this time, we are unable to provide additional details.”…
