Bail set at $110K for woman charged in alleged DUI crash that killed bicyclist

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of driving drunk and fleeing the scene after hitting and mortally wounding a bicyclist is expected to soon be released from jail after her bail was set at $110,000.

In arguing Tamera Popoy should be granted bail, defense attorney Tony Lidgett cited cases including a California Supreme Court case in which justices unanimously ruled that defendants — with certain exceptions — must be granted affordable bail.

Her case doesn’t involve those exceptions, Lidgett said. She’s charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI and hit-and-run offenses and traffic infractions…
