Fitness Influencer Connor Murphy Dies in Drowning Incident in Thailand
Connor Michael Murphy, a 32-year-old fitness influencer known for his bodybuilding, comedy, and lifestyle content, tragically drowned in Thailand earlier this month. Thai authorities report that the incident took place at a luxury rental home in Bang Phli.
According to police, Murphy fled his residence in the early hours of July 8 after neighbors heard him screaming inside the property. When officers arrived, he became agitated and refused to engage with them. He then ran toward a nearby golf course and entered an approximately eight-foot-deep lake.
Witnesses observed Murphy swimming for several hours but noted that he appeared to struggle in the water before submerging. Specialist divers were called to the scene and recovered his body after about 30 minutes of searching. Authorities believe leg cramps may have contributed to his drowning.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Santirat Ngernman described Murphy as a “very large, heavily built man” and explained that officers did not attempt a rescue due to safety concerns. Police Captain Weeraphong Rupsuay characterized Murphy’s behavior as sudden and erratic, noting that he appeared to be praying while in the water, possibly reflecting his personal spiritual beliefs.
In the weeks prior to his death, Murphy had shifted his online presence toward spirituality and religion, moving away from his previous content focus.
Officers investigating Murphy’s rental home found signs of unusual activity, including black paint splattered on walls, scattered rubbish in the kitchen, and furniture and dishes covered with brown and yellow paint.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
