Baton Rouge police building new law enforcement training facility in Zachary

ZACHARY, La. (WAFB) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is constructing a new training facility designed to place officers in realistic, high-stress scenarios ranging from domestic violence calls to active shooter situations.

The facility, referred to as a “scenario house,” will be built on a lot adjacent to the department’s joint firearms range with the Sheriff’s Office. Construction is set to begin within the next few days, with the department expecting the facility to open early next year.

Realistic training without the travel

Chief TJ Morse said the goal is to give officers hands-on experience that classroom instruction cannot replicate.

“A tool like this will just be able to help us make the training more realistic instead of just sitting in a classroom,” Morse said…
