Demolition is expected to begin this week on two buildings as part of Krause Group’s redevelopment of the Jefferson and Butler buildings in downtown Des Moines.
According to a news release, the buildings slated for demolition are at 1511 Grand Ave. and 515 16th St., which is a former Sherwin-Williams store. The removal of the buildings is an early step to support the redevelopment of the Jefferson and Butler buildings and create parking for the projects.
The buildings were once part of the Des Moines Heritage Trust’s list of endangered buildings, but have since been removed from the list because of Krause Group’s redevelopment efforts…
