A suspect is dead and an officer is injured following an exchange of gunfire Tuesday night, July 7, according to the Sioux Falls Police Department.
Authorities responded at about 10 p.m. to a call for a wellbeing check in the 3200 block of E. 20th Street, a 1 a.m. press release from the agency states. The person who made the initial call reported hearing gunshots inside the resident’s garage, Sioux Falls Assistant Police Chief Nick Cook said during a 10:30 a.m. press conference about the situation Wednesday morning, July 8.
