KERN COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The California High Speed Rail Authority (HSPA) is about to start laying its first tracks, and according to its CEO, the portion running through the Central Valley should be completed by next year.
“We want the public to know that this is real, this is happening,” Ian Choudri, the CEO of HSPA, said in the July 8 video announcement.
The Authority says crews will start laying the tracks just north of Shafter in Kern County later this year before making their way 119 miles up toward Madera.
They say work on this section is expected to be completed by late 2027…
