BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A new coffee and doughnut shop is preparing to open near Southern University, according to officials.
Rise & Glaze will occupy a long-empty commercial tenant space at 8235 Scenic Hwy along the Scotlandville corridor. The business is expected to serve residents, students, faculty, families, and visitors while creating new economic activity.

Councilman Anthony Kenney said the opening represents more than a new food business.
“This investment is about more than coffee and doughnuts — it’s about bringing new life to a vacant commercial space, creating opportunity, and continuing the momentum of economic development taking place throughout District 2,” Kenney said. “This is another sign that Scotlandville is growing and open for business.”…
