Man shot at by HPD officers in Highland Village charged with taking his mother’s car, court documents say

HOUSTON (CW39) — A man who was shot by Houston police officers while in a vehicle in Highland Village was charged with a felony, police said.

Jamarcus Oneal Spates, 30, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Wednesday, two days after nine HPD officers fired their weapons at him while he was in a car on Westheimer Road.

According to court records, Spates allegedly assaulted his mother and took her car from her home in Fort Bend County.
