Two bridges closed suddenly in Benton County after state inspectors find critical safety issues

BENTON COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – Two Benton County bridges have been closed immediately after state inspectors found critical safety deficiencies during a routine inspection.

Inspectors identified major issues on a pony steel truss bridge at milepost 5.3 on McFarland Road over Muddy Creek and on a timber bridge at milepost 2.4 on Williams Road over Hammer Creek, according to Benton County government.

Benton County Public Works said the state directed the county to close both bridges until repairs can be completed. McFarland Road and Williams Road will be signed as closed at their intersections with Alpine Road, with additional signage directing drivers to alternate routes…
