On June 14, I attended a patriotic Flag Day rally on the square in Annville. It began with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and a reminder of our country’s First Amendment rights. These five fundamental freedoms include freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.
This led me to reflect on our Constitution and Declaration of Independence, which state: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
