WNY PGA Tip: Take the pressure off short putts

Mike D’Agostino has a saying when it comes to putting. “You can hit a perfect drive 250 yards, but that three foot putt counts for just as many strokes.”

That’s why the head professional at Penfield Country Club will tell students that putting is the most important thing in the game. It also is a part of the game that doesn’t get nearly enough practice from most amateurs.

“Putting isn’t the most fun thing to stand out on the putting green and just keep hitting putts,” D’Agostino says. “It’s not as glamorous and glitzy as hitting drivers.”…
