[1] Trial begins for Santa Fe man accused of manipulating girlfriend to murder woman – The trial against a Santa Fe man accused of orchestrating a murder is underway. In late 2022, Santa Fe police found 21-year-old Grace Jennings stabbed to death with a long sword. They say Kiara McCulley and Isaac Apodaca orchestrated the killing at their home. Prosecutors said Apodaca manipulated McCulley into killing Jennings in order to move up in the ranks of a nonexistent organization. Apodaca’s defense claims there is no evidence that Apodaca committed the murder. McCulley pleaded guilty last year to second degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Under the agreement, she’s set to serve 30 years behind bars in exchange for her testimony in this trial.
[2] Vote on closing roads around Santa Fe Plaza postponed – A proposal to limit the Santa Fe Plaza to pedestrian traffic during peak tourist months was pulled from Wednesday night’s Santa Fe City Council meeting. The proposed resolution would shut down streets surrounding the plaza from Memorial Day to Halloween.
