Court documents detail Battle Creek block party shooting that killed one, injured another

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Court documents are revealing more details regarding a fatal shooting that happened in Battle Creek on Sunday.

Just before 4:30 a.m., officers with the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) responded to a shooting at the intersection of North Wood Street and Laramie Court during a large block party.

Two people became involved in a physical and verbal altercation over a racial remark, and one of the men punched the other, who fell to the ground.
