BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced she has joined other attorneys general to urge the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to strengthen rules surrounding illegal robocalls.
Murrill stated she is one of many in the state “who are sick and tired of robocalls constantly harassing and attempting to steal people’s money, identity, and private information.” According to her office, Americans received 29.6 billion scam robocalls and texts and lost nearly $2 billion in scams.
Attorneys general seek to require companies to submit regular reports on the sale and use of numbers, require people and entities applying to access numbers to confirm that they won’t use them to make illegal robocalls and ban number cycling…
