BAKER, La. (WAFB) — A summer camp named for a teenager killed at a birthday party more than a decade ago is bringing together youth from across the community for four days of sports, group activities, and etiquette courses.
The Diontrey Claiborne Stop the Violence Camp is organized each summer as a free outlet for young boys and girls.
A loss that sparked a mission
In 2014, Diontrey Claiborne was at a birthday party in Baker when he was shot. He was an innocent bystander. He died at 18 years old. Two others — 15-year-olds Kendal Dorsey and Marcell Franklin — also died.
