When new buildings start going up in Amarillo, everyone gets curious as to what is moving into the city. Construction is happening on the west side of I-27 near Atmos Energy and the Social Security building. However, it isn’t a new business. It is a much-needed upgrade for a business that has been in Amarillo for over 50 years.

Canyon Road Animal Hospital is getting a new home. Luckily, it’s still on Canyon Road, so they didn’t have to worry about changing the name. Canyon Road Animal Hospital is currently located at 4201 Canyon Drive.
A Look Back at 50+ Years of Care
For over 50 years, Dr. Jan Wolf was at the helm of Canyon Road Animal Hospital. In 2023, Dr. Wolf turned the clinic over to Dr. McKnight, who continues to honor the dedication to animal care Dr. Wolf had in 1972. Dr. Wolf remained on staff until retiring after 53 years of service in July 2025.
Inside the Plans: Size, Cost, and Timeline
In September 2025, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation posted the plans for a new vet clinic for Canyon Road Animal Hospital. The plans for this new building reflect a large expansion. The new facility will be located at 4770 Canyon Drive, next door to the Social Security office. It will be 12,604 sq ft, and the estimated cost is $3,780,000.
What to Expect When the New Clinic Opens
Our new home will be just up the road, with more space, easier parking, and the same team you know and trust ready to care for your pets.
According to Canyon Road Animal Hospital, they are expected to move into the new clinic in Spring 2027.
