Back Nine: Golden Oaks is a vibe

Last week I played at one of my favorite courses in the OnPattison area, assuming Berks County, PA is in the OnPattison area? For the purposes of this article, Golden Oaks in Fleetwood, PA is in our purview. There, done.

I also played just before the heat dome of hell overtook the whole Philly area. There was no chance I was playing in 100 degree weather. Maybe for Merion or Pine Valley I will waive my “I don’t want to die on the course while I play” rule. I have a 50 degree and 95 degree rule when I play golf. I won’t play below 50 degrees or above 95 degrees. I never said I was a die-hard, golf fanatic. I’m just a reasonable dude trying to live life while playing golf as best I can.

Golden Oaks is one of those courses that is a bit of a drive, at least an hour for me. But as I have mentioned in another article, part of the golf experience can be the journey to the course. This journey is one of the most picturesque drives that will take you through the rolling hills of Berks County. I know this sounds crazy, but the landscape surrounding Golden Oaks reminds me of Tuscany. The same rolling hills filled with farmland but without the vineyards and thousand-year-old castles.
