Enjoy July’s Shows and Festivals

Hello everyone, I hope you are as excited as I am about this weather, shows, concerts, festivals and a lot of outdoor events every day of the week from now through September. I will try to help you with a few of them.

“Cherokee” & Pressure Point Band will be performing at the Avenue Bakery on Pennsylvania & Baker Street in the Courtyard, presented by Rosa Pryor on Saturday, July 11, from 4-7 p.m. Bring your folding chairs, BYOB, food, desserts, rolls and beverages on sale. No cover.

First, I want to give you some sad news about a few of our friends and loved ones who recently passed away. Our friend Leonard “Lenny” Miles’ viewing is Friday, July 17 at Estep Funeral Home, 1300 Eutaw Place, from 2-6 p.m. Viewing and Homegoing Services are Saturday, July 18 at Israel Baptist Church, 2000 Preston Street in Baltimore. The wake is at 10:30 a.m. and services are at 11 a.m.

Leonard “Lenny” Miles passed away.

Another dear friend of mine, Stan Saunders, a former WJZ-TV reporter and sports anchor passed away on Friday, June 26. Funeral arrangements had not been made at press time. My prayers are with both families.

My official citation when I was inducted into the “Maryland Entertainment Hall of Fame.” Thanks to all who were responsible for me receiving such a prestigious recognition. Special thanks to my family, friends and fans who were there to support me. I am truly blessed to receive my flowers while I can still smell them.

Dr. Elaine Simon is doing it again with the Baltimore/Washington One Carnival Caribbean Festival from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12 at Druid Hill Park. Celebrating 45 years. The parade will start at Druid Park Drive on Saturday at 12 p.m…
