Waves of heavy rain could lead to areas of flooding this weekend

Flood Watch: Waves of heavy rain through the weekend could lead to areas of flash flooding.

  • Today: (70%) Periods of rain and storms which could produce locally heavy rainfall. High: 86°.
  • Tonight: (70%) Rain and storms may lead to spots of flash flooding. Low: 72°.
  • Tomorrow: (80%) Additional waves of rain which may lead to spots of flash flooding. High: 83°.

The risk for areas of flash flooding will stay elevated through the weekend. Multiple waves of heavy rain are anticipated beginning today. While it will not be a washout, downpours at times will have an impact on outdoor plans. A wave of widespread, heavy rain is expected to roll in from the northwest this afternoon. A stronger storm cannot be ruled out and may be able to produce damaging wind gusts. Highs will reach the mid 80s this afternoon. Heat Index Values will peak in the low-to-mid 90s.

Moisture levels will continue to ramp up across the region tonight. Additional waves of showers and storms are expected. Overnight lows will be in the low 70s. The threat for flash flooding will be elevated overnight. Saturday looks particularly soggy. Off/on periods of rain are anticipated for most of the day. Some will wake up to rain which will then be followed by additional soggy periods during the afternoon/evening. Areas of localized flash flooding are likely. Remember, never drive through a flooded roadway. Highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s thanks to the rain and clouds. Of course, it will feel warmer thanks to the tropical humidity levels.

There may be another wave of heavy rain overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Moisture levels will not be as high on Sunday. However, it still looks like numerous storms will develop, especially during the afternoon/evening. Some locally heavy rainfall cannot be ruled out, but the threat for flooding doesn’t look as high as Friday or Saturday. Highs will be in the mid-80s…
