FOX10 Investigates: Body cam captures Semmes shooting timeline as wounded business owner waited for aid

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Body camera footage and 911 transcripts show Semmes police officers exited Bowman’s Auto Air following an early morning shooting but did not immediately enter to render aid to the business owner, Johnny Bowman Jr., who had been shot five times and was bleeding inside.

First calls for help

At 3:06 a.m., seconds after being struck by bullets, transcripts show Bowman made his first call to 911, telling the operator: “I’ve been shot. I’m bleeding bad. I don’t know who shot me. They were in the building. I saw flashlights… and the shooting started.”

At 3:13 a.m., an ambulance was told to stay back from the scene and wait. Moments after EMS began staging, transcripts show someone else inside the business — later identified as an employee — also called 911, requesting an ambulance immediately. That person called again eight minutes later asking when help would arrive. The operator said, “They do have the call so they’re trying to get some assistance to you.”

At 3:30 a.m., Bowman called a second time and was slurring his words. He told the operator: “The police are here. I’ve been shot. I’m bleeding everywhere. Somebody-gotta get me to a hospital.”…
