PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said Thursday that the latest arrest of a Prichard police officer likely will not be the last.
Meanwhile, the sheriff added, the FBI has agreed to help expedite the examination of dozens of untested sexual assault kits found in the department’s evidence room.
Sheriff’s deputies have been working to catalogue evidence left in a condition that Burch has described as “deplorable.” He said 148 of 247 sexual assault kits never had been tested. He said he does not yet know if the cases have active suspects, but he added that some of them date back years…
