(KRON) — The friend of a woman who was struck and severely injured by a charter bus while riding her bicycle last weekend in Palo Alto has set up a GoFundMe to help with her medical costs, recovery and everyday expenses.
Reginald Webb says the victim, identified as Jennifer Smith, faces a “very long road ahead.”

Palo Alto police said the incident happened on July 2, near San Antonio and Middlefield roads. Smith was taken to Stanford Hospital.
Webb, who organized the fundraiser for Smith, said he had spent the day with her. The two were riding back home from the train station, “looking forward to a family celebration. Then everything changed in an instant.”
“I was riding behind Jennifer when the collision happened,” said Webb. “From where I was, the bus turned right in front of us, and Jennifer was struck. I yelled, but there was nothing I could do fast enough to stop what happened. I ran after the bus, banging on the side while others honked their horns, trying to get it to stop. I will never forget seeing Jennifer hurt like that. I held her while we waited for help to arrive, feeling terrified and helpless. That image is something I cannot get out of my mind.”…
