Frustration grows for Albuquerque seniors as city raises breakfast prices at senior centers

Prices rose across the board, with the full meal – which includes eggs, breakfast meat, hash browns, and toast – going from $1.50 to $4. Some say that’s too much for fixed-income seniors who depend on these meals. Saiz said about the increase, “This is probably the only meals that they get, breakfast, and the noon meal.”

Department of Senior Affairs manager Kent Vigil said the changes are all down to rising food costs. “There have been price increases, and the City of Albuquerque is not immune to those increases.”…
