Disaster Assistance Center opening next week after declaration approved for April flooding

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Neighbors impacted by April 6 flooding in Kalamazoo County will soon have an in-person place to get help applying for federal disaster assistance.

Monday, a Disaster Assistance Center is set to open at the Gun Plain Township Fire Department, 381 8th St. in Plainwell, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS).

Operating through Aug. 31, representatives from the FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be on-site to answer questions, explain available assistance programs, and provide one-on-one help completing FEMA grant and SBA disaster loan applications…
