- Country Duo Dropped From Tour Over ‘Satanic’ Claims Gets Surprise Offer From This 2000s Rock Star (parade.com)
Twin Temple, the retro doo-wop duo known for their theatrical Satanic themes, recently faced a setback when they were removed from two tour dates with country singer Charley Crockett. However, rock legend Jack White has stepped in to support the band, inviting them to open for his upcoming concert.
The husband-and-wife pair, Alexandra and Zachary James, have built a unique niche with their vintage ’60s-inspired sound and provocative songs like “Lucifer, My Love” and “Let’s Have a Satanic Orgy.” Their striking aesthetic and bold themes, though garnering a dedicated fan base, apparently led to their removal from Crockett’s shows. The duo expressed their disappointment on Instagram, emphasizing their commitment to artistic freedom and thanking fans for their support.
Responding swiftly, Jack White extended a public invitation for Twin Temple to open his September 29 concert at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. In a playful Instagram message, White wrote, “Twin Temple, would you like to open my show in L.A. on September 29th at the Hollywood Palladium?
Let me know. Get in front of me Satan!”
Crockett later clarified his decision in a statement, admitting he had misunderstood the band’s style, initially assuming they resembled Black Sabbath. “Not today, Satan,” he remarked.
Twin Temple gratefully accepted White’s offer, sharing their excitement on Instagram and noting they had planned to attend the show as fans. “Sir Jack, you have no idea what this means to us,” they wrote, calling the opportunity “a most infernal pleasure.”
This unexpected turn of events has put Twin Temple’s fall tour back on course, giving them the chance to perform alongside one of rock’s most iconic figures. While their initial tour dates fell through, the band’s journey continues-with a little help from rock royalty.
