Knoxville native Dale Dickey earns first Emmy nomination for “Widow’s Bay” performance

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Actress and Knoxville native Dale Dickey has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance on the popular Apple TV+ show “Widow’s Bay.”

Dickey was nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the acclaimed series that garnered 19 Emmy nominations for its debut season. It’s the first Emmy nomination in her prolific career in film, television, and theater.

She has appeared in 75 movies, according to IMDB, including “Winter’s Bone,” “Changeling,” “Iron Man 3,” and “Hell or Highwater.” Her television credits include shows like “Breaking Bad,” “True Blood,” “My Name Is Earl,” “Justified,” and “Claws.”

Dickey graduated from Bearden High School and attended the University of Tennessee. She gave a commencement speech at a UT graduation ceremony in 2015 and received an honorary Master of Fine Arts degree.
