Blowing Dust Advisory this evening: Travel impacts likely

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Today is a First Alert Weather Day due to a Blowing Dust Advisory issued overnight. This will impact all of southeast Arizona, including the Tucson metro area—especially for anyone driving on I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix. The advisory is in effect from 4 PM to 11 PM. Localized blowing dust may reduce visibility to as low as 1/4 mile, and wind gusts could exceed 50 mph. Avoid travel if possible, and if you’re caught in blowing dust, be prepared to safely pull off the road and wait it out.

There’s also a slight chance for thunderstorms later this afternoon in Tucson, increasing chances for areas south and east of Tucson. Potential impacts include blowing dust, gusty winds, flash flooding, and hail. Storm chances increase tomorrow and into the start of the workweek. Monday looks to be our most active day. Daily shower and thunderstorm chances continue, with temperatures dipping back into the 90s. Stay weather aware!
