Despite ban, Portland saw surge in firework fires on Fourth of July

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Fireworks sparked more fires in Portland on the Fourth of July this year than in 2025, despite a citywide ban that went into effect four years ago, officials said on Thursday.

Portland Fire & Rescue said that while numbers were typical before Independence Day, they spiked to 17 on the holiday.
