Arkansas Storm Team Forecast: Severe storm chances Saturday, more rain through next few days

Strong storms associated with a “cool” front will be capable of damaging wind gusts and hail on Saturday, July 11, in Arkansas. Along with the wind and hail risk, flash flooding and lightning are big risks due to the storms, too.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place for parts of northern and central Arkansas until 8 p.m. C.D.T. on Saturday, July 11. This includes communities like Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Russellville, Heber Springs, Mountain Home, and Jonesboro.

A level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms, from the SPC, has been highlighted in parts of central and northern Arkansas. A level 1 out of 5 risk exists for parts of central and southern Arkansas.

Storms are expected to traverse south, across Arkansas, with a “cool” front into Saturday night.

By early Sunday morning, the front will stall, and only a few showers are possible.

Then, Sunday, July 12, the front will bring a very low, level 1 out of 5 risk of severe weather to parts of southern Arkansas.

Beyond the storms, Saturday is also dangerously hot. As a result, a Heat Advisory is in place until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, for much of central and eastern Arkansas.

With rain and storm chances sticking around into the middle of next week, temperatures will be a bit cooler after Saturday. Highs are expected to fluctuate between the upper 80s and low 90s from Sunday through Wednesday.

An upper-level area of low pressure brings more scattered showers and storms from Monday to Wednesday to the Natural State. Thursday into next weekend, rain chances look more isolated, and temperatures return to the mid to upper 90s…
