Seasonable to mild low temperatures have settled in overnight for most. Temperatures this morning range from the 50s to the 70s throughout the Land of Enchantment. Today’s forecast has the heat and moisture. An outflow boundary from yesterday’s storms brought additional moisture into our eastern counites. It has also brought east canyon gap winds to communities along the central mountain chain. Peak gusts reached 49 mph at the Albuquerque Sunport with Santa Fe also reached 36 mph.
However, the additional moisture will set the stage for showers and thunderstorms along the central mountain chain and east today. Those showers and storms are expected to have a southward motion to them, which could bring the risk for Flash Flooding to Ruidoso area. The National Weather Service (NWS) will issue a Flash Flood Watch from 12-6 pm for sections of the Sacramento Mountains, which does include the Salt, South Fork and Seven Cabins burnscars.
