KFC Brings Back Popcorn Chicken After Three Years to Fans Delight

Additional Coverage:

After a three-year hiatus, KFC is bringing back a fan favorite: popcorn chicken. The popular snack, which was discontinued in 2023, is once again available to American customers starting today-while supplies last.

KFC offers three ways to enjoy popcorn chicken:

  • A 16-ounce serving of popcorn chicken with four dipping sauces for $10.
  • A popcorn chicken combo featuring six ounces of popcorn chicken, medium fries, a medium drink, and one dipping sauce for $8.49.
  • The popcorn chicken big box, which includes six ounces of popcorn chicken, two original recipe tenders, two dipping sauces, medium fries, a medium drink, and a chocolate chunk cookie for dessert, priced at $10.99.

In the days leading up to the return, KFC stirred excitement on social media, where fans expressed their enthusiasm and anticipation. Some commenters shared heartfelt reactions like “literally crying real tears at work rn i need it so bad,” while others pleaded, “DO NOT TEASE ME” and “Don’t toy with me.” One particularly persistent fan’s comments were even turned into a catchy song by KFC as part of the promotional campaign.

Melissa Cash, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC U.S., emphasized the brand’s commitment to listening to its customers. “For years, KFC has heard directly from fans clamoring for Popcorn Chicken’s return.

We read every comment, every DM, and even every online petition signature, and the message was impossible to ignore,” she said. “This menu item return shows our commitment to listening to our most passionate fans by giving them exactly what they’re craving.

We’re nodding to nostalgia as we simultaneously modernize the brand and how it shows up throughout the world.”

The return of popcorn chicken marks another step in KFC’s ongoing efforts to revive classic favorites while appealing to today’s consumers.
