Woman accused of abusing puppy, assaulting officers at Nashville dog park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman faces multiple charges after she was accused of abusing a puppy at a Nashville dog park and assaulting police officers during her arrest.

According to arrest documents, officers responded Sunday to reports of a woman at a dog park who was “transporting an animal in a cruel manner.” Nykeira Collier, 25, told officers she was just walking her dog in the park, however, witnesses had video footage of her dragging the puppy by its leash, causing its paws to scrape across the sidewalk. The footage also showed Collier pulling the leash upward, lifting the puppy off the ground and swinging it forward.

Officers informed Collier she would be arrested and animal control would take possession of the dog. She reportedly ignored officers’ requests to remain at the scene, picked up the dog and attempted to walk away.

Documents said as law enforcement attempted to arrest Collier, she kicked them several times and threatened to shoot them…
