4 days, 19 dogs: Inside Rescue League’s latest intake surge

WORCESTER — The Worcester Animal Rescue League recently took in 19 dogs and puppies over a 4-day period through 3 separate large-scale intakes, launching what the organization described as an extensive effort to provide medical care, rehabilitation and eventual adoption for the animals.

The nonprofit said the new arrivals include 4 French bulldogs, a micro bully and 8 husky-mix puppies. The intake comes just days after 6 additional puppies were brought into the shelter earlier in the week, bringing the total to 19 dogs received over 4 days.

According to the organization, the animals came from homes where owners had become overwhelmed by a growing number of dogs. The rescue worked with the Worcester Police Department and Worcester Animal Control to safely remove the animals while also offering owners resources and spay/neuter assistance for remaining adult dogs to help prevent similar situations in the future…
