Currently, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is doing routine bridge inspections to ensure each is safe enough for travel and to spot any needed maintenance issues.

In an alert from DOTD, we learn that, beginning today, Monday, July 13, they will begin the inspection process on the US 80 (Texas Street Bridge) and the inspection work will continue through this Friday, July 17.

DOTD’s alert goes on to state that drivers should prepare for the following lane closures:

  • Monday, July 13th to Wednesday, July 15th: Eastbound right lane closure, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day
  • Thursday, July 16th to Friday, July 17th: Westbound right lane closure, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day

DOTD announced that in addition to this huge Texas Street Bridge inspection project, drivers should also expect intermittent lane closures while inspections are conducted on the following this week:

  • Monday, July 13: I-20 eastbound lane closure over Lakeshore Drive
  • Tuesday, July 14: LA 3132 westbound to I-20 westbound ramp closure
  • Wednesday, July 15: I-20 eastbound to LA 1 (Market St) southbound ramp closure
  • Thursday, July 16: LA 3132 westbound to I-49 northbound ramp closure
  • Friday, July 17: LA 3132 westbound to I-49 southbound ramp closure

Routine bridge inspections are conducted on a regular cycle by specially trained inspectors. Please drive with caution through the bridge inspection zone, and remain alert for specialized equipment and crews that will be on site.

This work will be performed “Weather Permitting” so inclement weather could delay, extend, or alter in other ways, the scheduled work day/hours…
