BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A fire burned over 1,000 acres near Highway 46 and Highway 33 in Blackwells Corner on Saturday.
The Kern County Fire Department said on Saturday, July 11, at 10:02 a.m., crews were called to a reported vegetation fire south of Highway 46 and west of Highway 33 in the area of Blackwells Corner.
KCFD said the first-arriving unit confirmed a working vegetation fire of about 1 acre, burning in light grass with a moderate rate of spread. “Due to dry vegetation and fire behavior, additional resources were immediately requested to limit the fire’s growth,” said in a release…
