Wind gusts up to 65 mph expected for Southcentral Alaska

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – A significant weather system is moving into Alaska this week, bringing strong winds and heavy rain that will impact travel, outdoor plans, and daily activities across Southcentral and beyond.

A wind advisory goes into effect for Anchorage at 4 a.m. Tuesday and remains in place through 10 p.m. The strongest winds will hit the Anchorage hillside and Seward Highway from Potter Marsh south to Bird Point, with southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts between 45 and 65 mph. Later in the day, those winds will spill down into the Anchorage Bowl.
