The corporation that owns the Langham Huntington Pasadena has settled a civil lawsuit claiming the luxury hotel hiked room rates while more than 200,000 residents evacuated their homes during the pair of deadly and destructive wildfires that devastated the Los Angeles area in January of 2025.
The lawsuit, filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office and L.A. County Counsel’s Office, claims Langham Hotels Pacific Corporation violated California’s anti-price gouging law by raising rates by more than 10% on Jan. 7, 2025, “immediately” before a state of emergency was declared in response to the Eaton and Palisades wildfires.
Per the settlement, the corporation has agreed to pay $300,000 in civil penalties and $20,000 in investigative costs to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and Los Angeles County Counsel’s Office…
