McLaurin’s attorney moves to waive hearing in Huntsville kidnapping case, citing prior probable cause ruling

  • Toure McLaurin’s attorney has filed a motion to waive his upcoming preliminary hearing in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Huntsville Realtor Ronald Dumas Jr., citing a previous finding of probable cause.

Attorneys for Toure McLaurin, one of five suspects charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping of missing Huntsville Realtor Ronald Dumas Jr., filed a motion Tuesday asking a Madison County judge to waive McLaurin’s upcoming preliminary hearing, according to court records.

McLaurin’s attorney, Chad A. Morgan, argues the hearing is unnecessary because a judge has already determined there is probable cause to proceed with the case.

The preliminary hearing had been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 22 in Madison County District Court. But according to the motion, “An Aniah’s Law Hearing was held in this matter on June 25, 2026. During that hearing, probable cause was found, therefore a preliminary hearing is not needed.”…
