MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile man has been found guilty of his involvement in a nationwide multimillion-dollar bank fraud conspiracy.

According to a Department of Justice news release, Jacody Deauntae Roberts Williams, 22, participated in the crime, which involved the theft of mail, identity theft, counterfeiting stolen checks and money orders, and fraudulent financial transactions affecting several victims across multiple states.

The scheme ran from 2018 to 2025, with Williams and others opening bank accounts to “conduct sham deposits of counterfeit checks and money orders,” according to the release.

Williams’ sentencing is scheduled for October 2026, when he will face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, a five-year supervised release term, and will have to pay restitution to victims…
