Conversation around support for domestic violence victims continues at MB city council

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The conversation continues around providing more protection for domestic violence victims in Myrtle Beach.

Mayor Mark Kruea acknowledged something ABC 15 has been following online the past few days.

“I’m aware of the social media push for a domestic violence shelter,” he said.

There were calls, like this one on a Facebook page with 21-thousand followers, to speak out at today’s Myrtle Beach City Council meeting in support of New Directions of Horry County’s new women’s shelter.

The new shelter would allow 92 women to receive care, as opposed to the current 27. The shelter is in limbo at the moment, waiting on a building permit from the city…
