Vesta Realty Tenants Face Water Shutoffs and Mounting Trash as Two Cities Declare Nuisances

Cassandra Rhodes came home to her Drexel Flats apartment in Oklahoma City to find a notice from the city: her water would soon be shut off. She wasn’t surprised. She had saved the same notice from December, February and April. Her landlord, Vesta Realty, hadn’t paid the bill again.

As Jake Ramsey reported, the pattern is playing out across multiple Vesta-owned properties. In Tulsa, tenants at several complexes discovered their dumpsters had vanished and trash was piling up outside their buildings. An attorney representing Vesta told a Tulsa television station the waste management company had suddenly dropped the company. In March, the Tulsa Flyer reported that more than half the money owed to the city for unpaid multi-tenant water bills came from nine Vesta properties…
