Crystal Worl mural brings Tlingit stories to downtown Anchorage building

A new piece of public art is taking shape in downtown Anchorage, bringing Alaska Native culture and storytelling to a historic building.

Artist Crystal Worl and her team are installing a large-scale mural on the side of McKinley Tower along East Fourth Avenue. The piece, titled “White Raven Dreams of a Salmon Return,” is being placed one panel at a time as crews work through cool and rainy conditions.

Inspired by Tlingit Raven stories, the mural is designed to bring color, culture and a sense of home to the building, its residents and the surrounding downtown area…
