Alcohol at Alpharetta Arts Center could boost rentals

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A decision to allow alcoholic beverages at the Alpharetta Arts Center could allow the city to better leverage the facility as an event space.

At a July 13 meeting, the Alpharetta City Council gave preliminary approval for the request during the first reading of an amendment to the alcohol ordinance. The change would update the code to allow alcohol service and consumption at the art gallery and event space at the corner of Mayfield Road and Canton Street.

A permit would require compliance with licensing, service, safety and oversight requirements. Alcohol is currently allowed at a few other city facilities, including the Mansell House, Spotlight Community Stage, Log Cabin and equestrian center…
