The Marion County Commission on July 13 began its annual budget workshop exercise, during which it scrutinizes the proposed spending plans of each department.
The preliminary countywide millage rate is 4.42, up from 4.02 for the current fiscal year. The increase is a result of a proposed boost in the millage rate to support the county’s general fund. That rate would go from 3.09 to 3.49.
