Commonwealth files to dismiss lawsuit filed by Fayette County Board of Education chair

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The Commonwealth of Kentucky asked a Franklin County Circuit Court judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the Fayette County Board of Education chair, Tyler Murphy, and the Kentucky Education Association last week.

Murphy filed a lawsuit last month challenging a law that would prevent any school district employee who works more than 100 days a year from serving on a school board in a city with over 300,000 residents.

The law would allow a board member who fits those criteria to finish their term, but would bar them from running for reelection…
