Savannah-Chatham students recognized for completing Summer 500 Program

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A group of Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools (SCCPSS) students was recognized Wednesday for completing the Summer 500 workforce development program.

The high school students received certificates of completion at a ceremony held in the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom. The four-week program allows the young adults to prepare for the workforce and discover what career best suits them, according to city of Savannah Alderwoman At-Large Carol Bell.

“They are developing life experiences, whether it’s in leadership or decision-making,” Bell said. “They are also learning to be responsible individuals, and that’s so important. At an early age, at 16 and 17, they are learning skills that some of our adults have not mastered.”…
